Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4

Just a few days after being limited to a total of seven runs in a split with Shenandoah, the Eastern Mennonite softball team found its offensive groove and went 3-1 at the Roanoke Valley Softball Bash in Salem. The women scored nine or more runs in each of their three wins and finished with the third-best record of the nine teams at the weekend tourney.

EMU 9, Wartburg 2
Box Score
The women opened Saturday with a contest against Wartburg (IA) and produced an offensive show that would follow them most of the tourney. Lisa Lee (Buckingham, Va./Buckingham) led the charge.

Lee had three hits in the game, including a homerun, and racked up four RBIs. She was also on the mound for the win, striking out nine Knights and scattering six hits.

Molly Smith (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) added a double and two singles and Jessica Blosser (Crimora, Va./Wilson Memorial) had a pair of doubles.

Ferrum 9, EMU 0
Box Score
The loss to the Panthers was the one hiccup over the weekend for Eastern Mennonite. Ferrum scored four runs in the first and cruised to the shutout.

Brooke Hensley (Elkton, Va./Spotswood) had two hits in the loss.

EMU 10, Averett 6
Box Score
The women opened day two with a high-octane win over Averett. Blosser rapped out four hits in the game.

Sophomore Courtney Allman (Weyers Cave, Va./Fort Defiance) broke out of her early season slump by smacking two homeruns and picking up five RBIs.

Smith came in for relief and got the win on the mound.

EMU 9, Peace 3
Box Score
The offense continued its surge as the Lady Royals closed the Bash with a win over Peace, avenging a loss at the Beach Blast Tournament the previous weekend.

Hensley had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs. Smith had a homerun and a single with two RBIs.

Lee pitched and picked up the win, scattering four hits. She also struck out eight batters.

The Lady Royals went 3-1 at the two-day tourney. Only co-hosts Roanoke and Ferrum finished with better marks, both at 4-0.

EMU has gotten its record back to .500 for the first time this season, since losing back-to-back games to nationally-ranked teams (Louisiana College and Christopher Newport) to open the 2011 schedule.

At 7-7 overall, the Lady Royals now step into Old Dominion Athletic Conference play for the first time, traveling to rival Bridgewater this Wednesday. First pitch of the doubleheader is at 3:00pm.
