Royals Take Momentum In First Game And Earn Sweep

Box Score

The Eastern Mennonite men's volleyball team started its weekend road swing through New Jersey Saturday morning, taking on new NECVA opponent Kean University. The Royals had beaten Kean just a week earlier in Harrisonburg, and did the trick again on the road, taking a 3-0 sweep.

The Cougars took a 7-3 lead with a service ace in game one, but that turned out to be their only ace of the day. EMU regrouped and tied the set at 8-8 and then finished off the game on a 5-1 run to grab a 25-20 win.

The Royals took control of the match with the victory and swept through 25-15 and 25-18 wins.

Junior Nolan Prock (Virginia Beach, Va./Frank W. Cox) was everywhere for EMU as he had match highs of nine digs, six block assists and four service aces. He also had six kills.

Chris Moise (Hollywood, Fl./South Broward) had nine kills and John Grove (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) added seven.

Setter John Barry (Aaron Bridge, Oh./Worthington Kilbourne) had 24 assists.

Eastern Mennonite goes to 4-4 with the win and stays perfect in the NECVA Metro at 3-0. The Royals play at New Jersey City University Sunday afternoon at 1:00pm.
