Generals Top Field Hockey Women On The Road

Box Score

Playing on Washington & Lee's turf field is never an easy task for visitors, and the Eastern Mennonite field hockey team hit that speed bump Tuesday night. The Generals dominated the first half, scoring three unanswered goals, and knocked off EMU 4-0. W&L has now won four straight over the Lady Royals in Lexington.

The Generals scored quickly, going ahead 1-0 just two minutes into the game. The Lady Royals didn't get their first shot until after a penalty corner in 22nd minute.

After being outshot 13-1 and trailing 3-0 after the first 35 minutes, the women regrouped in the second.

EMU came out aggressively and took the first shot, but W&L pressed back and scored their fourth goal. The Lady Royals took control of play over the final 25 minutes, outshooting their hosts 9-2 during that span, but the women had a number of shots skim just wide of the cage as they took the shutout.

The Generals had an 18-12 edge in shots during the game, including 12-6 in shots on goal.

Goalie Becky Nolt (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) had eight saves.

The loss drops EMU to 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The women are on the road again this Saturday, playing at Sweet Briar.
