Hornets Sting Lady Royals in ODAC Double Header

Lynchburg College scored early in game one in route to a 5-0 win and then got the game changing home run from Tara Campbell, in game one, for the 1-0 victory as the Hornets swept the season series from the Eastern Mennonite University softball team Sunday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.
Lynchburg now stands at 15-4 overall on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. EMU falls to 5-11 on the year, 0-6 in the conference.
Brittany Allsop went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI in game one while Rachel Gallagher was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
EMU had five players each get a hit in game one.
Jessica Sullivan (Midlothian, Va./Manchester) and
Nicole Shelton (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) who each went 1-for-2.
The Lady Royals were unable to scratch across a run against LC starting pitcher Barbara Miles as she held EMU at bay in the complete game win. Miles surrendered five hits over seven innings while striking out nine.
Senior
Jamie Fraysher (Waterford, Va./Loudoun Valley) pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing only one walk while striking out three.
In game two the Lady Royals held the Hornets to only two hits through six innings. EMU starting pitcher
Misty Judd (Luray, Va./Luray) dialed up her fastball on several occasions, striking out eight Hornet batters through seven innings.
The only damage in the game came in the top of the sixth when Campbell drove the offering over the centefield fence for a solo shot, putting LC up 1-0. Lynchburg starting pitcher Katie Bruce shut the door from there, keeping EMU off the basepaths and the scoreboard in the home half of the seventh.
Bruce collected her 10th win of the season.

Megan Viafora (Stanley, Va./Page Co.) was 1-for-2 with a double.
