Lewis, Scott Lead EMU Women's Basketball to 63-47 Win

Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va./Stuarts Draft) and
Danielle Scott (Summit, NJ/Summit) each scored a game-high 13 points to lead the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team to a 63-47 conference win over Emory & Henry College Friday night.
EMU improves to 9-2 overall on the season and 4-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Emory & Henry drops to 1-7 on the year, 0-4 in the conference.
"This was one of the better games we've played on the season and it's a great rebound for us after our last game on Tuesday," commented head coach Kevin Griffin following the game. "We had huge minutes off the bench from several players and that will be big for us as we travel to Guilford tomorrow. Our defensive pressure was outstanding and we will need that to continue to be successful."
Brittany Snyder (Raphine, Va./Riverheads) scored 11 points while registering three steals.
Marla Young (Fishersville, Va./Wilson Memorial) and
Addie Bashorun (Manassas, Va./Brentsville District) each had six points off the bench for EMU.
Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md./Western) had 11 rebounds and four steals in the win.
Emory & Henry was led by 13 points from Kayla Blackstock who was 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Sarah Petty had another eight points and five assists.
The Lady Royals will stay on the road as they travel to Greensboro, N.C., to take on the Quakers of Guilford College on Saturday, January 10, for a 4 p.m., ODAC contest.
