Softball Royals Drop Two at Ferrum Tournament

The Eastern Mennonite University softball team dropped both games of a two-game set at the Ferrum Tournament, falling to Methodist 9-2 and dropping the second game to Ohio Northern 6-4 on Saturday, March 15.

EMU now stands at 11-4 overall this year and will play Peace College at 9 a.m., on Sunday, March 16, before playing an opponent yet to be determined.

In the first game against Methodist the Lady Royals went into the fifth inning with a 2-1 lead before the Monarchs struck for eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Freshman outfielder Jessica Blosser (Crimora, Va./Wilson Memorial) led off the game with a solo home run with senior Miranda White (Verona, Va./Fort Defiance) and Jessica Sullivan (Midloathian, Va./Manchester) each had two hits in the game.

Against Ohio Northern, EMU held a 4-0 lead through four innings until ONU scored three runs in the fifth and added anotherh two runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull away for the 6-4 win. Sullivan added another two hits and three RBIs in the second game while White had a single and a double in the loss.
