Field Hockey Improves to 5-1 in ODAC with 8-0 Win

The Eastern Mennonite University field hockey team scored four goals in each of the first and second periods as the Lady Royals improved to 5-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference following a 8-0 shut-out win over Sweet Briar College Saturday afternoon.
Sweet Briar falls to 5-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
EMU improves to 10-4 on the season.
The Lady Royals will travel to Maryland on Tuesday, October 21, as they battle St. Mary's College at 3:30 p.m.
Allison Byler (Belleville, Pa./Belleville Mennonite) scored a career-high four goals. Byler's previous high for goals in a game was two.
Alyssa Derstine (Telford, Pa./Christopher Dock) had three goals and an assist while
Linda Cimini (Cape May, NJ/Middle Township) scored the other goal for EMU.
Becky Nolt (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) registered four saves in the win.
Byler scored the first two goals of the game in the sixth and 10th minutes to put the Lady Royals on top 2-0. Derstine then went back-to-back on two of her goals, scoring in the 16th and 17th minutes. Byler followed with another back-to-back offensive onslaught with Derstine and Linda Cimini closing out the win. The goal by Cimini was her first of 2008.
EMU out-shot Sweet Briar 34-4 in the contest.
