Greg Bienemann and Femi Kusimo each scored in double figures as the Washington & Lee Generals moved to 6-4 on the season and 2-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference following a 79-65 win over the host Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team Wednesday night in Yoder Arena.

Senior Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va./James Wood) led the Royals with 18 points and six rebounds while freshman guard George Johnson (Richmond, Va./Miller School) had 14 points off the bench in 18 minutes of action.

"We just did not have the effort out there tonight," commented EMU head coach Kirby Dean. "They out-rebounded us and they were just too strong inside."

The loss drops EMU to 3-5 on the year and 0-2 in the ODAC with conference opponent Lynchburg College heading into Yoder Arena on Saturday, January 12, at 7 p.m.

W&L took control of the contest early and maintained a strong presence on the glass as the Generals out-rebounded EMU 25-12 in the first half. Kusimo helped give the visiting team a 10-point lead with 12:26 on the clock before the Roylas closed the gap down to two points on a trey by Johnson.

The Generals responded and kept the EMU offense at bay while heading into the locker room with a seven point lead. Kusimo had a team best 11 points in the half on 5-of-6 shooting from the field while Bienemann tallied another 10 points for W&L.

The Washington & Lee offense did not lose a step in the second half as they again used their strong presence in the paint to start the period off with a layup from Kusimo. Bienemann added his own layup in their next possession with the Generals pouring on the offense from that point on. Bienemann finished the half with 14 points to end the game with 24 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while Kusmio had 21 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.

Freshman Orie Pancione (Augusta, WVa./Hampshire) played 20 minutes off the bench for EMU and scored eight points to go along with six rebounds and three steals. Freshman D.J. Hinson (Newport News, Va./Tallwood) and senior guard Jered Lyons (Takoma Park, Md./St. Johns at Prospect Hall) each had six points in the loss.

Washington & Lee shot 59 percent from the floor in the second half compared to 41 percent for EMU while the Generals held a 40-28 advantage in rebounds.
