FOREST, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference put out their end-of-season men's basketball awards on Thursday, and a familiar face was found for the Royals. Junior point guard
Aaron Brooks was named Third Team All-ODAC after a season that saw him lead the Royals in scoring, assists and steals.
Brooks is the first Royal to be named All-ODAC since Tim Jones was named Second Team All-ODAC in 2022.
The Fredericksburg, Va. native led the Royals in PPG with 14.1, which was 11th in the ODAC, and he scored in double figures in 21 of EMU's 25 games. He shot nearly 43% from the field for the season, while also finishing fifth in the conference in free throw percentage at 77%.
Brooks was EMU's main ball handler, and finished the season with 100 assists, which was third in the ODAC. He averaged 4.0 APG, which put him at fourth in the conference. On the defensive side, he was also tops on the team in steals/game with 2.4, which was second in the ODAC and 36th nationally.
In sports, they say the best ability is availability, which Brooks also had. He played in every game for EMU, averaging an ODAC-high 35.8 MPG, which was 22nd nationally.
