Natasha Viafora (Stanley, Va.) pitched a one-hitter in game one against Randolph-Macon as the junior right hander allowed only one unearned run over seven innings to lead Eastern Mennonite University to the 3-1 win. RMC went on to take the second game by a score of 6-3 in eight innings.

The Lady Royals got the scoring started in the third inning of game one as sophomore Mandee Madden (Winchester, Va.) doubled home junior shortstop Hayley Shepard (Grottoes, Va.) while later coming around to score on an RBI single off the bat of freshman Nicole Shelton (Richmond, Va.).

The two runs would be all Viafora would need as she was again dominant from the circle again for EMU, striking out seven batters while issuing two walks to notched her 12th win this season. She also went 2-for-3 from the plate.

Christi Wise had the tough luck loss for RMC as she went seven innings and allowed only three runs, two earned, on five hits while striking out seven. Courtney Brooks had the lone hit and run scored for the Yellow Jackets.

In game two EMU was unable to capitalize on four Randolph-Macon errors as the Yellow Jackets went on to score four times in the bottom of the eighth with Brooke Snyder stinging the Lady Royals with a three-run home run, her team leading sixth of the season, to seal the win for RMC.

Pitcher Jamie Fraysher (Waterford, Va.) and junior catcher Miranda White (Verona, Va.) each had a hit and an RBI for EMU with Shepard, Madden, and freshman Brittany Caricofe (Bridgewater, Va.) scoring the Lady Royals three runs.

EMU now sits at 24-12 overall on the season and 10-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with Randolph-Macon now at 21-12 on the year and 8-10 in the conference. Both teams will now wait to see where they will be seeded heading into the ODAC Softball Tournament scheduled to begin on Friday, April 20, in Salem, Va.
