Second Half Propels Lynchburg to 87-76 Win over EMU

Steven Echols recorded 29 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the field as Lynchburg College defeated the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team 87-76 Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference match-up.
The Royals fell to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in the conference while the Hornets improved to 5-6 on the season and 2-2 in the ODAC.
The teams were tied heading into the half at 43 with junior
Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) and freshman
Yanni El' DeJesus (Caguas, Puerto Rico) each tallying 12 points in the half. Parkes finished the contest with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and four rebounds while DeJesus had 15 points and two steals.
Echols led the Hornets in the second half as Lynchburg outscored EMU 44-33. The freshman guard had 13 points and three boards in the half while Drew Norris and Peter Vasiliou also contributed to the Hornet attack.
Sophomore
LeRoger Parrish (Danville, Va.) had a season high 15 points along with five rebounds while freshman
John Overstreet (Forsyth, Ga.) added another 12 points for EMU.
Senior
Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) had 10 points and eight boards.
EMU will return home tomorrow as the Royals host Hampden-Sydney at 3 p.m. in Yoder Arena.
