Sager Nets 17, but Royals Fall 74-67 to Hampden-Sydney

Tyler Murray led all scorers with 18 points as the Hampden-Sydney Tigers defeated the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team 74-67 Sunday afternoon.
Senior
Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) led the Royals with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists while juniors
Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) and
Jered Lyons (Takoma Park, Md.) each added another 12 points for EMU.
The Royals went into the half leading by one with Parkes and Lyons each leading the team with eight points at the break. Hampden-Sydney took possession of the lead at the start of the second half on a bucket by Murray.
EMU and HSC continued to battle it out throughout the half with the Tigers only able to gain a margin of seven points on the Royals. Back-to-back three-pointers by Lyons and Sager tied the game up at 67 with 2:20 remaining but a basket by Murray and a three-pointer by Drew Prehmus sealed the win for HSC.
Prehmus had 12 points and six boards for HSC. Jyri Laakso and Mike Edwards finished with 13 points each for the Tigers who improve to 12-7 overall and 7-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
The Royals fall to 6-12 overall and 2-10 in the conference.
EMU will return to action on Saturday, February 3, as they host the Eagles of Bridgewater College at 7 p.m.
