Washington & Lee Defeats EMU Men's Basketball 86-62

Femi Kusimo finished the game 10-of-14 from the field for 23 points to lead the Washington & Lee Generals to an 86-62 win Wednesday night against the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team.

The Generals took control of the ball early in the first and were paced by Chris McHugh who had a team-high nine points in the half along with Kusimo and Kirk Jones who each chipped in another eight for Washington & Lee. Jones ended the contest with 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field for the Generals.

In the second half the Royals tried to mount a comeback and were led by senior forward Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) who had 11 points. Sager tallied 18 points for the Royals while freshman guard Austin Twine (Dublin, Va.) came off the bench and contributed 15 points and three assists for EMU.

Freshman John Overstreet (Forsyth, Ga.) had another five points and four rebounds for EMU including a team-high seven assists.

ODAC Player of the Week Greg Bienemann was held to 13 points before fouling out in the second half.

The Royals fall to 5-11 overall and 1-9 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with the Generals improving to 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the conference.

EMU will return to the court on Saturday in the second half of a double-header. The Lady Royals will take to the court at 4 p.m. against Lynchburg College while the men's basketball team will host the Lynchburg men at 6 p.m.
