Royals Fall in Shoot-out 121-109 to Emory & Henry

Senior Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) notched a double-double with 26 points and 10 boards while junior Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) scored a career-high 32 points but the Emory & Henry Wasps scored just enough to defeat the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team 121-109 Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.

Four Wasps scored in double figures with Jarell Christian leading the way with 16 points and five steals while Korey Townsend and Cain Landreth each added another 14 points for E&H.

Sager was 12-of-12 from the field for the Royals and tallied his fourth double-double of the season while also adding four assists and a team-high three steals. Parkes fell just short of the double-double with nine rebounds and was 13-of-17 from the floor.

Sophomore LeRoger Parrish (Danville, Va.) had another 16 points, nine rebounds, and six assists for EMU with freshman Jason Rutschman (Troutville, Va.) contributing 11 points and two steals.

EMU is now 5-9 overall on the season and 1-7 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Emory & Henry improves to 8-6 overall and 4-4 in the conference.

The Royals return to the court on Sunday, January 21, at 3 p.m. as they take on the Quakers of Guilford College.
