Lady Royals Go 3-0 in Conference Play this Week, Defeat Emory & Henry 69-57

Carolyn Riley (Warrenton, Va.) scored a game-high 18 points as the Eastern Mennonite University women's basketball team closed out this week's competition with a perfect 3-0 record in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference after today's 69-57 win over Emory & Henry.
The Lady Royals improved to 9-3 on the season and 7-2 in the ODAC while the Wasps fall to 6-7 overall and 2-6 in the conference.
EMU got 10 points from Riley in the first half along with another 10 from junior center
Jolene Kratz (Telford, Pa.). Kratz finished the contest with 13 points and 10 rebounds for her first double-double of the season while Riley added another four boards and two blocked shots.
Alex Lyons led the Wasps with 16 points and eight rebounds with Katherine Brandt chipping in another 10 points and six boards. Emory & Henry stayed close to the Lady Royals throughout the contest and cut the EMU lead to eight with less than two minutes remaining. Freshman
Melissa Lewis (Stuarts Draft, Va.) and
Ebony Dennis (Baltimore, Md.) pushed the Lady Royals lead back up to double figures to close out the win for EMU.
Dennis finished the contest with 13 points, three assists, and three steals.
EMU will return to the court on Tuesday, January 16 as they travel to Bridgewater, Va., to take on the Eagles at 7 p.m.
