Lauren Michel (Princess Ann, Md.) scored two goals to lead the Eastern Mennonite University field hockey team past Roanoke College by a score of 5-1 Saturday afternoon in Salem, Va.
Michel scored her first goal of the game at the 14:24 mark unassisted to put EMU (7-4, 3-1) up 1-0. Michel then added her second goal of the game on an assist by sophomore
Julie Denlinger (Lancaster, Pa.) nine minutes later to increase the Lady Royals lead to 2-0.
Senior
Kristie Souder (Telford, Pa.) added another goal, her eighth of the season less than two minutes later. Freshmen
Alyssa Derstine (Telford, Pa.) and
Sarah Roth (Lancaster, Pa.) also added goals for EMU.
Freshman
Alyssa Borucki (Medford, N.J.) allowed only one goal and recording two saves while senior
Katie Moyer (Blooming Glen, Pa.) completed a scoreless second period and finished the game with two saves as well.
Lindsey Crosby scored the lone goal for Roanoke College off an assist from Liz Hudson while Maroon goalkeeper Lindsey Paz notched 13 saves in the loss.
The Lady Royals return to the field on Wednesday, October 4, as they host ODAC foe Bridgewater College. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
