Eastern Mennonite University defeated Emory & Henry College 4-2 in game one and dropped the second game 9-3 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference softball doubleheader on Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va.

EMU (15-13, 5-5 ODAC) scored one run in the first and added three in the third after E&H (11-15-1, 6-2 ODAC) tied the score in the top of the inning. The Lady Royals held on for the 4-2 triumph. Both teams finished with seven hits.

Freshman Jamie Fraysher (Waterford, Va.) earned the victory with four and one-third innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits. Sophomore Natasha Viafora (Stanley, Va.) started and retired the first eight batters, but she left the game in the third inning after being injured on a sharp line-drive. Sophomore Shannon Harris (Hendesonville, N.C.) took the loss after allowing four runs.

Sophomore right fielder Laura Bomberger (Harrisonburg, Va.) was 2-for-3 with three RBIs for the Lady Royals. Sophomore center fielder Anna Coleman (Fairfield, Va.) went 2-for-3 and scored twice. Junior third baseman Shannon Pharis (Christiansburg, Va.) was 2-for-3 for the Wasps.

In the second game, E&H pounded 18 hits and freshman starter Stephanie Cartwright (Winston-Salem, N.C.) limited EMU to six hits in a 9-3 victory. Fraysher took the loss for EMU.

Freshman center fielder Jaime Roy (Daleville, Va.) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and Pharis was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Sophomore second baseman Ashley Fitzgibbons (Silver Spring, Md.), sophomore catcher Meaghan Funk (Buchanan, Va.), sophomore designated player Robin Phelps (Winston-Salem, N.C.), senior left fielder Amy Rich (Asheville, N.C.), and freshman right fielder Laura Hudson (Fayetteville, W. Va.) each had two hits, with Hudson adding three RBIs.

Bomberger was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and scored twice. Fraysher was also 2-for-3 and drove in the other run.

EMU will travel to Randolph-Macon Woman's College on Sunday for a 2 p.m. ODAC doubleheader.
