Senior forward Jason Sager (Edinburg, Va.) and junior guard Jered Lyons (Takoma Park, Md.) each scored 16 points as the Eastern Mennonite University men's basketball team held on to defeat Ferrum 73-67 Monday night in a non-conference contest.

Sager also led the team with nine rebounds, falling one rebound short of his fourth straight double-double. Lyons contributed four assists and two steals on the day for EMU.

The Royals improved to 3-1 on the season thanks in part to the starting five which scored a combined 66 points for the game. Sophomore guard LeRoger Parrish (Danville, Va.) poured in 12 points while junior Brad Parkes (Winchester, Va.) added another 14 points and eight rebounds.

Freshman Yanni El' DeJesus (Caguas, Puerto Rico) added another eight points and eight boards for EMU.

The Panthers were led by Cedric Jones who finished the game with 16 points and 13 rebounds while Keith Harris and Jerrell Wade contributed another 13 points each in the loss.

The Royals will now head down the road on Saturday, December 2, as they take on Greensboro College at 8 p.m. in the first round of the Don Glick/Bridgewater Invitational held on the campus of Bridgewater College.
