EHC Triumphs Over EMU 90-84 in Women's Basketball

Sophomore Lauren Habel netted 30 points in leading Emory & Henry College to a 90-84 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball victory over Eastern Mennonite University on Sunday afternoon in Emory, Va.
Habel (Raleigh, N.C.) made 10-of-19 field goal attempts, including 8-for-13 behind the three-point arch as EHC (5-9, 3-6 ODAC) went 16-for-48 as a team from long range. Senior Brooke Barker (Rogersville, Tenn.) narrowly missed a triple-double with 10 points, nine assists, and nine boards for the Wasps. Sophomore Kiyett Brown (Mt. Airy, N.C.) added 10 points.
EMU (10-5, 6-4 ODAC) was led by senior center Amanda Renalds (Bridgewater, Va.) who had 18 points and six rebounds. Junior Tara Jones (Richmond, Va.) had her first career double-double with 16 points and a career-best 10 rebounds, along with three assists. Freshman Kathleen Steele (Gainesville, Va.) added 13 points.
EHC shot 37.2% from the floor, 33.3% from the three-point arch, and 47.6% from the free throw line. The Wasps made 16 three-pointers for the game, compared to just one for the Royals, who shot 45.5% for the game. EMU went just 1-for-3 from long range and shot 67.6% from the foul line.
EMU will have the week off before traveling to Bridgewater on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. contest.
