EMU Falls at Randolph-Macon 87-60 in Men's Basketball

Randolph-Macon College led by 21 points at halftime and cruised to an 87-60 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball victory over Eastern Mennonite University on Wednesday night in Ashland, Va.

R-MC (14-8, 12-4 ODAC) took charge in the game's early stages, jumping out to an 11-2 lead at the 15:03 mark of the first half and 19-7 at the 12:22 mark. EMU (11-11, 7-9 ODAC) never got within 10 points again. With 7:37 remaining in the half, the Yellow Jackets led 31-11 and by halftime the advantage was 46-25. The Royals never got closer than 21 points in the second half in losing 87-60 for their second-lowest scoring output of the season.

Freshman forward Brad Parkes led EMU with 18 points and also have five rebounds. Sophomore forward Jason Sager had four points and seven rebounds, the first time this season has failed to reach double figures in scoring.

EMU shot 33.9% from the floor and made 4-of-14 three-point field goal attempts. The Royals went 18-for-25 at the free throw line. EMU was outrebounded 42-33, the second lowest rebound total of the season for the Royals.

Junior forward Justin Wansley had a game-high 25 points for the Yellow Jackets along with five boards and three steals. Junior guard Patrick Gill had 13 points while senior guard Justin Moyer added nine points, seven assists, and two steals.

R-MC shot 50.7% from the floor and made 11-of-23 three-pointers. The Yellow Jackets went to the free throw line just eight times, making six of those attempts.

EMU will host Washington and Lee University on Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m. It will be "Jam the Gym" night with adult admission lowered to $3, child admission lowered to $2, and groups of eight or more admitted for $2 per person.
