Emory & Henry Notches 55-52 Win Over EMU in Women's Basketball

Emory & Henry College earned a 55-52 victory over Eastern Mennonite University in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.

E&H improved to 12-8 overall and 9-6 in the ODAC. EMU fell to 14-6 during the 2004 season and 10-5 in conference.

The Wasps led 34-29 at halftime and went on for the three-point victory. They outrebounded EMU 41-32 and committed just eight personal fouls. E&H shot just 32% from the floor but made 9-of-17 three-pointers for 52.9% shooting from the arch. E&H hit 12-of-18 free throw attempts.

Brooke Barker and Kate Childress, both junior guards, led the Wasps in scoring. Barker had 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. Childress added 15 points, five boards, two assists, and two steals.

EMU shot 40% from the floor and connected on 2-of-6 three point field goals. The Lady Royals had a season-low eight free throw attempts, making six.

Junior forward Amanda Renalds was the lone Lady Royal in double figures with 11 points. She also had seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and three steals. Junior Deanna Brubaker had nine points while freshman guard Dana Powell and senior center Regina Sours each had eight points. Sours also had five assists while Powell added four steals.

EMU continues its weekend road swing on Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. game at Guilford College.
