EMU Makes it Three in a Row, 3-1 Over Shenandoah

Eastern Mennonite University won its third consecutive match by defeating Shenandoah University 3-1 in a non-conference women's volleyball match on Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.

EMU (3-17) defeated SU (5-15) by game scores of 30-28, 30-28, 19-30, and 30-19. The three-game winning streak is the program's longest since mid-October, 2003. The three victories for the season also give the Lady Royals one more victory than the entire 2004 season when they went 2-23.

Junior Lisa Berry (Dalton, Ohio) had a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs along with two service aces. Sophomore Megan Good (Alberta, Canada) led the Lady Royals in kills with 14 and added four total blocks and two aces. Sophomore Frances Pfister (Madison Heights, Va.) had 11 kills, three assists, three digs, and two block assists.

Junior Brittany Zalud (Chesapeake, Va.) had another solid passing match for EMU with 40 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Courtney Miller (Harrisonburg, Va.) had six kills, two aces, and shared team-high honors with 14 digs. Junior Kara Stoltzfus (Parnell, Iowa) also had 14 digs while freshman Jamie Morgan (McGaheysville, Va.) added 12 digs.

Sophomore Michelle Chandler (St. Charles, Mo.) led Shenandoah with 14 kills and also had three aces, eight digs, and three total blocks. Sophomore Alex Hamlin (Berryville, Va.) had a double-double for the Hornets with 10 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Jennifer Thompson (Forest, Va.) had 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman setter Catherine Beuerle (Lynchburg, Va.) had 30 assists and 14 digs.

EMU will continue its streak of seven consecutive home matches with a 6:30 p.m. contest on Wednesday against the Wildcats of Randolph-Macon Woman's College.
