EMU Wins Key ODAC Game Over Lynchburg 76-63

Jason Sager had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds to spark Eastern Mennonite University to a 76-63 victory over Lynchburg College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball game on Saturday night in Harrisonburg, Va.
EMU improves to 11-7 overall and 7-5 in the ODAC while LC falls to 9-10 overall and 6-6 in the conference. Both teams entered as part of a three-way tie for fourth place in the ODAC standings. With the win, EMU remains tied with Hampden-Sydney, which the Royals will face on Monday.
The first half was slow-going at times as the teams combined for 27 personal fouls and 41 free throws. With EMU trailing 19-18 with 8:17 remaining, the Royals put together a quick 11-0 spurt for a 29-19 advantage with 6:32 remaining. EMU went on to lead 43-34 at the half.
In the second period, EMU led 52-39 at the 15:28 mark before LC responded with a 13-0 run to knot the score at 52-52 with 11:47 remaining. The Wasps led 60-58 with 5:08 remaining when the Royals put together their second 11-0 run of the game for a 69-60 lead with 2:05 remaining. EMU connected on 17-of-22 free throws in the closing five minutes of the game to help seal the 76-63 victory.
Sager, a sophomore forward, had his 12th double-double in 18 games and eighth game with at least 20 points. He hit 9-of-16 field goals including 2-of-2 from the three-point arch. Freshman forward Brad Parkes had 16 points and two blocks. Sophomore center Jason Lentz had a well-rounded game for the Royals with 15 points, nine rebounds, three blocks, and three steals.
EMU cashed in on 33 personal fouls by Lynchburg, going 33-for-49 at the charity stripe. The Royals shot 42.6% from the floor and hit 3-of-4 three point attempts.
Junior guard Andy Albright led the Hornets with 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Senior forward Ryan Pehanick had 13 points and six boards. Lynchburg hit 32.8% of its shots and went 4-of-18 from the three-point arch. LC was 17-of-25 at the free throw line.
