Lady Royals Coast Past Wasps 66-41

Eastern Mennonite University jumped out to a 20-1 lead and never trailed by more than 17 afterwards en route to a 66-41 victory over Emory and Henry College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Sunday in Harrisonburg, Va.

EMU improved to 12-3 overall and 8-2 in the ODAC to keep hold of second place in the conference standings. E&H fell to 8-6 overall and 5-4 in conference games.

The Lady Royals held a 54-35 edge in rebounds and limited the Wasps to 27.1% shooting from the floor, including 1-for-15 on three-point field goals. EMU shot 39% from the floor and made 1-of-8 three-point attempts.

Junior forward Amanda Renalds had her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points, 16 rebounds, two assists, and five blocks. Junior forward Deanna Brubaker had the best game of her EMU career with 13 points, seven rebounds, and two steals. Junior forward Stephanie Mathews had 11 points and six rebounds.

Junior guard Kate Childress had 13 points, five rebounds, and five steals to lead Emory and Henry. Freshman forward Sarah Worden added nine points.

EMU will now have a week off before hosting Bridgewater at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
