EMU Field Hockey Tops Randolph-Macon 3-2

Eastern Mennonite University held off a second-half rally from Randolph-Macon College en route to a 3-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference victory on Thursday in Harrisonburg, Va.
EMU (2-7, 2-2) struck for all of its goals in the first half. Senior Molly Harrington scored unassisted at 13:04 to get the scoring started. Senior Lisa Ehst found the cage unassisted at 22:20, her team-best seventh goal of the season. Junior Jonalyn Denlinger added a third goal just before half on a penalty corner with assists by freshman Lisa King and Ehst at 33:35.
Not affected by the 3-0 deficit, Randolph-Macon (2-5, 0-3) came charging out of the second half with two quick goals. Senior Stacy Brittingham scored with an assist from junior Jessica Yoke at 36:46. Junior Lyndsay Edginton followed quickly at 39:49 to close the gap to 3-2, but the Yellow Jackets were unable to get off a shot for the remainder of the match.
Junior Christina Bender earned the victory in goal with one save. Freshman Kim Owen recorded nine saves for Randolph-Macon. EMU dominated in shots with 30 compared to just four for RMC and also led in penalty corners 14-2.
Eastern Mennonite will now travel to Randolph-Macon Woman's College for a 1:00 p.m. ODAC match on Saturday.
