GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Lady Royals would rally back from a three run deficit against Guilford Colleg

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Lady Royals would rally back from a three run deficit against Guilford College to defeat the Quakers 8-5, splitting the day-night double header. The win gives EMU a record of 7-12 overall and 3-5 in the ODAC. The Lady Royals had lost the first game 2-3.

In the first game the Lady Royals would fall behind early after the Quakers would put up three runs after one inning. Ashley Cooke would tally the biggest blow in the game with her two run single. Cooke would later come around to score on a RBI single by Carla Cain.

The Lady Royals would respond in the top half of the third inning with two runs to close the Guilford lead to 3-2. EMU pitcher Tessa Grubb would keep the Quakers at bay for the rest of the game but it would not be enough as Guilford pitcher Jennifer Evans would pitch 4 1/3 innings in relief, scattering seven hits to seal the 3-2 victory for the Quakers.

The two teams would go to battle again in the second game with EMU freshman shortstop Ti'Sha Scruggs would come on strong for the Lady Royals. Scruggs would go three for three on the day with two runs scored. Emily Lam would add another two runs while Sabrina Tusing would go three for four with two runs scored for EMU.

Tessa Grubb would pitch the complete game, giving up eleven hits while allowing five runs in the 8-5 victory.

The Lady Royals will be back in action on Wednesday, March 31 at Roanoke College. Game time is scheduled for 5 pm.
