The Lady Royals never looked back after a lead taking lay-up by Amanda Renalds

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Amanda Renalds (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) hit a key lay-up with five minutes remaining to give the Lady Royals the lead. EMU would not look back as they ran their record to 10-1 overall and 7-1 in the ODAC with a 60-54 victory over Emory & Henry.

Carrie Grandstaff (Luray, Va./Mt. Carmel Christian) and Renalds would pace the Lady Royals scoring 15 points each. Stephanie Mathews (Woodstock, Va./Central) would come one rebound away from a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Shantee Bryant (Verona, Va./R.E. Lee) added nine assists.

Erin Connelly and Brooke Barker both had double-doubles for the Yellow Jackets. Connelly finished the game with a game high 17 boards to go along with 11 points. Barker tallied 13 points and 11 rebounds.

With the loss the Yellow Jackets fall to 6-6 overall and 3-4 in the ODAC.

The Lady Royals will travel to Villa Julie on Wednesday, January 14 for their next contest. Game time is scheduled for 7:30pm.
