Bob "Hurricane" Hepler came to EMU in the fall of 2018.  

Coaching Experience

  • Director of Track & Field, Cross Country and Women's Triathlon September, EMU (2018-Present)
  • Director of Campus Recreation / Athletic Facilities; Head Coach - Track & Field and Cross Country, UT Tyler (2004-18)
  • Was also a successful swim coach at the club and high school levels in California and Colorado

  • Women's Triathlon- 7th Place NCAA Championships and 2nd Place East Regionals in 2024. Team included one All American; 3rd Place NCAA Championships and 2nd Place East Regionals in 2023.  Team included four All Americans;  5th Place NCAA Championships and 3rd Place East Regionals 2022.  Team included three All American Athletes
  • 150+ EMU top-10 all-time performances in track & field since winter 2021. EMU Track & Field began in 1967.
  • 28 EMU Track & Field School Records set since 2021
  • Men's and Women's Track & Field teams regularly ranked top 10 regionally.
  • Men's Track & Field Academic All-American teams 2020-23
  • Women's Track & Field Academic All-American Teams 2019-2025
  • Men's & Women XC Academic All-American Teams 2019-2025. 2022 Women's XC had highest team GPA for any NCAA Women's XC program.
  • Women's Triathlon Academic All-American Teams 2019-2025. 2022 and 2024 team had a 4.0 Team GPA.

  • Won over 40 Triathlons including 2001 and 2002 New Brunswick Provincial Championships

  • Qualified and competed in the IRONMAN World Championships (Hawaii) seven times.
