BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Just 24 hours removed from a big victory over Mary Baldwin, the EMU Baseball team hoped to maintain their good form when they visited Bridgewater for the latest rendition of the Route 42 Rivalry on Wednesday. Instead, the Diamond Royals had a rough evening at the ballpark, falling to the Eagles by a final of 21-4.

Highlights
Â
- Bridgewater tacked on one run in the first inning to get the scoring start.
- The Royals responded with one run in the top of the second to tie the game. Trevor Selph hit a sac fly to right field, allowing to Dalton Rocke to tag up and reach home to make it a 1-1 ballgame.
- The game got away from EMU in the bottom of the second when Bridgewater put up 11 runs to go up 12-1.
- The Royals managed to get three runs back in the top of the third. Aidan Miller scored on a bases loaded walk drawn by Erik Wilkinson. Selph then smacked a base hit to left field to open the door for Daniel McGinnis and Michael Duncan to score. That made the score Bridgewater 12, EMU 4.
- However, it was all Eagles from there as they added on nine more runs, including seven in the fourth inning, to put the game out of reach.
