HARRISONBURG, Va. - EMU lacrosse kicked off the week on Monday, welcoming in the Pioneers of Transylvania University.

Highlights
First Quarter
- The Pioneers got on the board just 36 seconds into the game, taking the opening draw down and picking up a goal from Chandler Worth, off an assist from Berkley Harlow, for a 1-0 lead.
- EMU answered right back, as Kaylene Todd won the subsequent draw and got the ball into the Royals offensive zone. After a few passes, it was an Ava to Ava connection, as Ava Schwartz found Ava Walker, whose shot found the back of the cage, tying things at one.
- Transylvania added four more goals in the final 13 minutes, taking a 5-1 lead after one, despite Alyssa Hunter coming up with eight saves.
Second Quarter
- Three more goals came for Transylvania, pushing their lead to 8-1 midway through the quarter.
- The Royals started to claw back with just over five minutes left the frame. Hailey Walker found Shayleigh Sims right in front of the goal, and Sims buried her shot, cutting EMU's deficit to six. Less than a minute later, A. Walker added her second goal of the game, pulling EMU within five, 8-3. Hunter added three more saves in the quarter, but a Pioneers goal at the 3:51 mark gave them a 9-3 lead at the break.
Third and Fourth Quarters
- Transy added three more goals to start the third, before A. Walker secured the hat trick with 2:38 left in the third, making the score 12-4.
- The Pioneers rounded out the scoring with four goals in the fourth, although it would have been much more without Hunter's 11 second-half saves.
