Royals Drop Heartbreaker in Series Opener at William Peace

CARY, N.C. – EMU Baseball loaded up the bus for their lone out-of-state trip of the 2026 regular season, heading to the Research Triangle for a three-game series versus William Peace. The game came down to the ninth, but it was the host Pacers who walked it off in the bottom of the ninth for the 3-2 win over the visiting Royals.
 
Daniel McGinnis had a multi-hit game for the Royals, going 2-for-4 with an RBI triple. On the mound, Walker Dixon had a great outing against his former team, throwing four shutout innings.
 
Leland Barrow stood out for William Peace, going 3-for-4 on the day.

Highlights
  • Following a scoreless first inning, the Pacers got the scoring started with an RBI groundout that brought home Barrow.
  • In the third, Barrow hit an RBI single up the middle to give William Peace a 2-0 lead through three innings.
  • The Royals tied things up with a two-run sixth inning. After a walk by Dalton Rocke, McGinnis hit a triple to right center field that brought in Rocke for EMU's first run. Hadikell Bruno then hit an infield single to plate McGinnis, making it a 2-2 ballgame going to the later innings.
  • The 2-2 tie held up until the bottom of the ninth when Gavin Turner hit a single up the middle with the bases loaded to walk it off for William Peace.
