BRIDGEWATER, Va.- The EMU Women's Basketball team did not have to stray far from campus for their latest ODAC road contest, making the short trip to Bridgewater on Wednesday night for the latest rendition of the Route 42 Rivalry. The Eagles defended their home court, getting the better of the Royals by the final score of 74-46.

Lauren Townsend led the Royals with nine points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field.

Bridgewater had four players in double figures, and they were paced by Riley Corcoran with 16 points. Jay Garcia put together a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Highlights
First Quarter
While Bridgewater got the opening bucket, the Royals took an early 4-2 lead on a Jeriyah Osborne driving layup and a Kaylene Todd layup. The Eagles countered with a Garcia three-pointer and a driving layup by Autumn Gentry to go up 7-4, but EMU responded with a two-point jumper from Townsend to get within one at 7-6. However, Bridgewater ended the quarter on a 12-2 run to take a 19-8 lead to the second quarter.

Second Quarter
The Eagles took firm control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring EMU 27-8 in the period to take a 46-16 halftime lead.  

Third Quarter
EMU opened the second half scoring with a three-pointer by Grace Burke. This set the tone for a more even third quarter in which Bridgewater only outscored the Royals 17-15.

Fourth Quarter
The Royals went on a mini-run of 8-4 over the first half of the fourth quarter. Six of the eight points in that span came courtesy of Jada Waller, along with a layup by Meredith Atkinson. However, Bridgewater made the plays in the fourth to maintain their considerable margin.
