Men’s Soccer Drops ODAC Opener to Defending Conference Champs Washington & Lee

LEXINGTON, Va.  – Following back-to-back home wins, the EMU Men's Soccer team began ODAC play with a big challenge, marching into Lexington to take on defending conference champions Washington & Lee. The Royals arrived in Lexington riding a six-match unbeaten streak; however, that streak was stymied as the Royals retreated back to Harrisonburg with a 2-0 defeat to the Generals.

Records: EMU 5-1-3, 0-0 ODAC | Washington & Lee 2-2-3, 0-0 ODAC

Highlights
  • 21' | Both sides had their chances in the first half, but it was W&L who found the scoreboard first when Isaac Arrowood headed in a corner kick from teammate Willy Hall to put the Generals up 1-0.
  • The Royals produced four shots on goal in the first half, including two from first-year Elijah Byrd, but they could not find the back of the net before halftime.
  • 73' | EMU kept the score within one until the Generals added an insurance goal courtesy of Taha Kaba to go up 2-0, a deficit that proved to be insurmountable for the Royals.
