Avenging Angels Take Win over Royals

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Royals returned to their home field on Saturday, taking on the Avenging Angels of Meredith College. 

Meredith used a goal in the first quarter, and two in the second half, to pick up a 3-0 win over EMU. 

Records: EMU 0-6, 0-0 ODAC | Meredith College 4-3

Highlights
  • The Avenging Angels got on the board in just the third minute, when Maya Kirstein took a pass by Megan Ingenito right in front of the goal. She finished the shot for a 1-0 Meredith lead. Emma Huante picked up her first save, keeping EMU's deficit to one. 
  • The Royals best scoring chance came in the 10th minute, on an EMU penalty corner. Camryn Lohr wound up for a big shot, but it was blocked by a Meredith defender. 
  • Huante added two saves in the second quarter, and Shay Gough picked up a defensive save, as Meredith took a 1-0 lead into the break. 
  • Meredith added two more goals in the second half: one in each of the third and fourth quarters. The Royals offense was kept off the board, for the Meredith win.

What's Next
EMU will be back in action on Wednesday, when they welcome in the Phoenix of Wilson College to the Turf Field. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
