STAUNTON, Va. - The Royals spent their Saturday in Staunton, with a showdown against the Fighting Squirrels on their agenda.
MBU scored four times in the first half, while holding EMU to just one goal in the game, for a 5-1 win over the Royals.

Highlights
- Katie Parks picked up first save of the game, just under the seven minute mark of the first half, to keep Mary Baldwin off the board. But after a corner kick kept the ball in the Squirrels offensive zone, they were able to get one past the keeper for a 1-0 lead. They added their other first half goals in the 28th, 31st and 42nd minutes, respectively, while holding EMU without a shot in the opening 45 minutes.
- Leah Beachy got the Royals on the board just 26 seconds into the second half, with her second goal of the season. Hailey Walker picked up a shot on goal just three minutes later, but it was saved by the MBU keeper, to keep the score at 4-1.
- Beachy added two more shots, Walker had another and Esme Cardoso tacked on a shot on goal, but they were all saved by Amelia Cross, the Mary Baldwin keeper. Late in the game, in the 88th minute, the Fighting Squirrels were able to add a final goal, making the final score 5-1.
