Highlights
- The offensive fireworks began immediately in the first inning. After Guilford pushed a run across in the top half, Aidan Miller got EMU on the board with a solo home run to left center field, making it a 1-1 game after one inning.
- Guilford pushed ahead 2-1 with a run in the second inning, but EMU answered with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom of the third. Nick Arnold singled through the left side to bring in Dylan Hall. Sanderson scored a short time later to put EMU ahead 3-2 through three.
- The Quakers edged back out front in the top of the fourth on the strength of a pair of solo home runs. The lead was short-lived thanks to Daniel McGinnis, who blasted a solo home run to left field to make it a tied game through four innings.
- Guilford again edged out front with the long ball, this time on a solo home run by Ryne Rodrigues in the top of the fifth. But the Royals answered with some power hitting of their own in the bottom of the frame. Arnold smacked a two-run home run to left center field, his team-leading seventh of the season to put the Royals up 6-5 through five.
- The Diamond Royals had their biggest inning of the game in the sixth, scoring four runs. Sanderson got the rally started with a two-RBI double to right center field, bringing in Jett Cabanban and Dalton Rocke. Arnold added to his RBI total with base hit through the left side to plate Hall. Miller capped it off with a base knock to left field, scoring Sanderson and putting EMU up 9-5.
- The Quakers did not go quietly, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh. However, the Royals got those three runs right back in the bottom half of the inning. Cabanban hit a single up the middle that brought in McGinnis and Pettit. Sanderson then continued his monster game one with a base hit to right center field, allowing the Royals to wave in Cabanban. With that, the score was EMU 11, Guilford 8 after seven innings of work.
- Guilford got within three with a run in the top of the eighth, but EMU again an answer. McGinnis and Rocke teamed up for back-to-back solo home runs to go up 15-9 through eight innings.
- The Quakers made it interesting in the ninth, pushing two runs across before Gimbel came in to nail down the final out and secure the win for the Royals.

- The Royals got one of those runs back in the bottom of the fourth thanks to Rocke's second solo home run of the game.

- Each team had a solo home run in the eighth inning. The Royals' solo blast came off of the bat of McGinnis, his third home run of the day. That got EMU within four at 8-4 going to the ninth.
- The Quakers quickly squelched any hopes of an EMU comeback with five runs in the top of the ninth. The Royals could not respond in the bottom half, and Guilford clinched the doubleheader split. Phillips went the distance in a complete game for the Quakers.
