HARRISONBURG, Va. - Both games had excitement...it just depended on which team you were rooting for.
In the opener, it took 10 innings to decide a winner, as the Royals plated two in the bottom of the 10th, including a walk off suicide squeeze single from
Maggie Mayhew, to pick up an 11-10 win. In the second game, SVU scored runs in all five innings en route to a 16-4 run-rule shortened game.

Third Inning
- Neither team scored in the second, but in the third, SVU was able to add to their lead with three straight doubles leading to two runs, putting the Knights ahead 4-0. Mayhew led off the third with a double, but was doubled up after a line out, to end the Royals threat in the third.
Fourth Inning
- Back-to-back singles, followed by a double, gave SVU a 6-0 lead and chased Lambert, as Graham came in to pitch with one out in the fourth. An RBI bunt gave SVU a 7-0 lead, but a 4-6-3 double play got Graham out of the inning, bringing the EMU bats to the plate.
- EMU cut into the Knights lead, with Allana Overby leading off with a single, moving to second on a wild pitch, followed by a Dean Walk. D. Jones came up with two on and cranked a pitch over the left field wall for her first home run of the season and three RBI.
Sixth Inning
- Graham kept the Knights scoreless in the fifth and sixth, keeping EMU in the game trailing by four. Dean led off the sixth with a solo home run, followed by a D. Jones Walk. Sydney Orndorff drove in D. Jones, cutting SVU's lead to 7-5 with nobody out.
- Madee Arbaugh followed up Orndorff's double with a double of her own, scoring Orndorff and bringing EMU within a run, 7-6. Two ground outs got SVU on the brink of getting out of the jam, but a single from Brooke Morris, and a wild pitch, plated Arbaugh and tied things at seven.
Seventh Inning

Tenth Inning
- A sac bunt and a single plated the 10th run for Southern Virginia, once again putting EMU on the brink of defeat.
