Highlights
Third and Fourth Innings
- Both pitchers worked out of jams in the first and second, but UMW was able to scratch across a run in the third. A lead off single, a passed ball, a stolen base and an error pushed across the first run, giving Mary Washington a 1-0 lead. The Eagles put runners back on first and second, but Graham got out of the inning, throwing a runner out at home.
- EMU went down in order in the fourth, and UMW extended their lead with a single, a stolen base and an RBI single to left, taking a 2-0 lead.
Sixth and Seventh Innings
- Mary Washington picked up a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, after a lead off walk followed by a bunt single that allowed both runners to come all the way in to score, due to a Royals error. Graham was able to get out of the inning without anymore runs crossing, bringing EMU's offense to the plate.
- Madee Arbaugh led off with a pinch hit single and got to third on Mayhew's double, her second extra base hit of the day. Arbaugh came in to score on a passed ball, putting Mayhew at third with nobody out. An unfortunate line out resulted in a double play, erasing any runners on base.
- Grace Fravel singled to left, but Allana Overby flied out to left to end EMU's threat, as UMW picked up the game one win.
