HARRISONBURG, Va. - After playing their first seven matches away from home, EMU MVB finally returned to the friendly confines of Yoder Arena for a pair of matches on Saturday.
They started off the day by dispatching Lynchburg 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-16) before sending the crowd home happy with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21) sweep of Regent University.

Highlights
Set One - EMU 25, Lynchburg 17
- After a Hornets block put them on the board first, EMU went on a 7-1 run, highlighted by two kills from Andre Mills and kills each from Ricardo Fernandez Perez and Daeman Odom, for a 7-2 lead.
- Lynchburg clawed their way back to within two, but EMU answered with a 7-0 tilt, with Mills adding a kill and two aces, and Jose Melendez and Derek Diaz picking up a kill apiece.
- The teams traded points, and, with EMU leading 24-14, Lynchburg was able to score three straight. But a kill from Diaz put the finishing touches on the first set and gave EMU a 1-0 lead.
Set Two - EMU 25, Lynchburg 17
- Lynchburg and EMU swapped points to start the second, with Lynchburg holding a slim 8-7 lead. EMU then went on an 8-0 run, as Diaz added two aces Melendez, Fernandez Perez and Ezekiel Awkward added kills and Melendez/Awkward and Fernandez Perez combined for a triple block, for a 15-8 lead.
- After a Hornet point, EMU pushed their lead to 10 with four straight points. Lynchburg answered with a 7-1 run, to cut their deficit to 4, 20-16.
- With Lynchburg trailing by just four, EMU ended any chance of a rally with a 5-1 run, as a service error and two attack errors gave the Royals a 2-0 advantage.
Set Three - EMU 25, Lynchburg 16
- Kills from Diaz, Melendez and Mills, and a Diaz block, gave EMU a 4-1 lead to start set three. Lynchburg was able to cut into EMU's lead and trail by just one, but Diaz then took over with back-to-back kills and an ace, for an 8-4 lead.
- EMU extended their lead to seven with a 4-0 lead, and the teams traded points to EMU leading 19-12.
- Two points from Lynchburg was answered by two from EMU, and once again the teams swapped points. After an EMU attack error, the Royals ripped off three straight points, including a big block from Melendez and two Hornet errors, to put the stamp on the win.

Highlights
Set One - EMU 25, Regent 15
- EMU and Regent traded blows to EMU leading 8-7, before EMU went on a 5-1 run, taking a 13-8 lead.
- Regent pulled within two with a 3-0 run, but EMU squashed any comeback with a run of their own, 9-2, using three kills from Mills and two from Awkward, along with an Odom/Mills block, for a 22-13 lead.
- After two Regent points, EMU closed things out with three straight points, including a kill from Odom, for a 1-0 lead.
Set Two - EMU 25, Regent 17
- Once again, the teams started out even with EMU taking a 7-6 lead through the first 13 points. Later, with the Royals leading 9-8, EMU pulled ahead with five straight points, including a big block and kills from Odom and Mills.
- With EMU ahead 15-9, Regent used three straight to pull within three, but EMU answered with a 3-0 run of their own to push their lead back to six, 18-12.
- The teams swapped points to EMU leading 21-17. The Royals then finished off the set, winning the final four points, highlighted by three straight kills from Mills, for a 2-0 set lead.
Set Three - EMU 25, Regent 21
- Stop me if you've heard this one, but the teams traded points to start set three, with EMU taking a slim 11-9 lead through 20 points.
- Neither team could grab momentum, until a Regent error and a Mills kill, put EMU ahead by four, 18-14. The Royals were able to extend their lead to five, 21-16, but Regent countered with a 4-1 tilt, making the score 22-20, EMU.
- After a kill from Awkward made the score 23-20, Regent added a kill, trying to extend the match. But EMU wasn't having that, as a Regent service error, and a Mills kill, his 20th of the match, wrapped up the Royals second sweep of the day.

What's Next
EMU will hit the road once again, as they head to Ohio next week for a trio of matches. They'll start the weekend on Friday with a matchup against host Wittenberg. First serve is set for 7:30 pm.
