FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Due to incoming winter weather, the EMU Baseball Royals began their 2025 campaign 24 hours earlier than originally planned, loading up the bus for Fredericksburg to take on Mary Washington. It was a close game early, but the host Eagles broke the game open in the fifth inning, ultimately pulling away for the 10-0 win. Â

Highlights
- The game remained scoreless through the fourth inning. Keenan Fulwood, Andrew Ritterskamp and Nash Withers collaborated for four shutout innings and only one hit allowed between the three of them. The defensive highlight for the Royals came in the second, when Jett Cabanban threw out a Eagle runner trying to steal second base to end the inning.
- Mary Washington took control of the game in the fifth, plating five runs in the inning. The rally started with a solo home run to right field by Noah Roots.
- The Eagles added more runs to their lead in the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings.
- EMU came closest to scoring in the eighth, loading up the bases but unable to push a run across home plate.
