BALTIMORE, Md.- The EMU Women's Basketball team tackled its second game in a big city in two days, going from our nation's capital to the Charm City of Baltimore to take on Notre Dame (Md.). Unfortunately, the Royals were unable to replicate yesterday's successful outcome, falling 58-46 to the Gators.
Jeriyah Osborne continued the strong start to her junior season, putting up 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting from the field to lead the Royals in scoring for the fourth time in five games.
Grace Burke followed up her 21 points against Trinity with a 14-point showing, going 5-of-10 on her field goal attempts.
Amani Watts led Notre Dame (Md.) with 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting. Marecia Bennett nearly posted a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.

Highlights
First Quarter
The Gators got things going with four unanswered points by Watts. Osborne responded on behalf of the Royals with five points of her own to make it a 5-4 contest. Neither team had a lead bigger than two for the rest of the quarter as the Royals held a slim 12-11 margin after 10 minutes.
Second Quarter
EMU scored the first five points of the period on an Osborne layup and a Burke three-pointer. The Gators bit back with a 14-2 scoring to go ahead by six at 25-19 with 3:17 remaining in the half. The Royals, however, kept things close at halftime with a
Jayda Jones free throw and an Osborne three pointer in the final minute of the frame. Notre Dame (Md.) took a two-point lead into the locker room, 25-23.
Third Quarter
Burke got the first bucket of the second half on a jumper to tie the game up at 25 apiece. A jumper by
Kaylene Todd at the 5;19 mark got EMU within one at 31-30. However, the Gators took over the game with a 10-2 scoring run late in the third quarter to go up 41-33 going to the fourth quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Try as they might, EMU could not mount a comeback in the fourth as the Gators held on for their first win of the season at the expense of the Royals.
