LEXINGTON, Va. - The Royals had a tall task in front of them on Saturday, taking on a Washington and Lee team that came in ranked ninth in the country and hasn't lost an ODAC game in two years.

The Generals lived up to their billing, as they scored five goals in the first half and four in the second, picking up a 9-0 win over EMU in the first round of the ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament.

Highlights

• The Royals had a great opportunity at the start of the game, after a Generals corner click was cleared out. Bridget Hay got in behind the W&L defense, dribbled in near the keeper and fired a shot at the bottom left of the goal, but it was saved by the Generals keeper to keep EMU off the board. 
• CJ Jefferson came up with two big saves before the five minute mark of the frame, but W&L got on the board in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead. Jefferson would add six more saves in the half, while W&L added four more goals, taking a 5-0 lead into the half. 
• In the second half, W&L's defense held the Royals without a shot on goal. The Generals tacked on four more to their total, but Katie Parks, who replace Jefferson in net to start the second half, came up with a career-high 13 saves in the final 45 minutes.

What's Next
This was the season finale for the Royals, who returned back to the ODAC Tournament for the first time since the 2019 season. They'll graduate four seniors, but return a majority of the 2025 squad in 2026.
