NORFOLK, Va. – EMU took the long trip down toward Virginia Beach on Saturday, for a business trip against Trinity Washington and Regent.
In the opener, the Royals dominated Trinity, picking up a sweep (25-9, 25-8, 25-7) over the Tigers. In the day's finale, EMU avenged an early-season loss, picking up a 3-2 (22-25, 25-15, 25-16, 14-25, 16-14) win over Regent.

Highlights
Set One: EMU 25, Trinity 9
- The Royals jumped out to an 8-2 run, picking up two kills apiece from Emma Rogers and Emma Greer, along with a Kassidy Meadows service ace.
- Trinity was able to string some points together, and later in the set pull within six, 12-6. EMU answered, however, going on a 13-3 run, with Greer and Rogers picking up two more kills each along with a trio of service aces, for a 1-0 lead.
Set Two: EMU 25, Trinity 8
- The second set started closer, with EMU holding a 3-2 lead through the first five points. The Royals then went on a 14-2 tilt, with two kills from Emma Lambert and two service aces from Rebekah Allen.
- Trinity won the next three points to cut EMU's lead to 10, 17-7, before the Royals then went on an 8-1 run with a Meadows ace and a pair of kills from Greer, to take a 2-0 match lead.
Set Three: EMU 25, Trinity 7
- EMU took a 7-3 lead to start the third set before Trinity picked up a point with an EMU service error, pulling within four.
- The Royals then broke the set open, winning the next 13 points, including three kills each from Lambert and Kenley Smith, for a 20-4 lead.
- The Tigers were able to pick up three more points, but a kill from Jada Parker, a Trinity error and a Claire Reichenbach ace put the set away and gave EMU the sweep.

Highlights
Set One: Regent 25, EMU 22
- EMU started ahead 3-1 in the opening set, using a Rogers/Custis block and kills from Custis and Rogers, to take the lead.
- The Royals would continue to hold a lead, pulling ahead 10-6, before Regent went on a 6-0 run for a 12-10 lead. EMU would retake the lead with a 6-2 tilt, highlighted by a kill from Rogers, a Rogers block and an Allen ace.
- Regent wouldn't trail long, going on a 6-1 run for a 20-17 lead. The Royals tied things with three straight, forcing a Regent timeout. Out of the break, RU won five of the next seven points to take the set and a 1-0 lead.
Set Two: EMU 25, Regent 15
- Neither team was able to gain much momentum to start the second set, with Regent holding a two-point lead, 9-7, through the first 16 points.
- EMU then rallied, going on an 11-2 tear, with a pair of Rogers kills, three service aces and a Rogers block, to lead 18-11.
- Regent won the next three points, but EMU ended the set on a 7-2 run, including three straight kills from Smith and Greer, to tie the match at one apiece.
Set Three: EMU 25, Regent 16
- The Royals took a 7-4 lead to start the third, with Greer picking up a pair of kills and Rogers adding one. A 4-0 Regent run forced an EMU timeout, and out of the break, the Royals surged ahead with an 13-1 run as Meadows added two kills and Allen picked up four aces.
- RU continued to fight, going on a 7-3 run to cut EMU's lead to 23-16, but EMU used a Smith kill and a Smith block to win the set and have a 2-1 match lead.
Set Four: Regent 25, EMU 14
- This time it was the Regent Royals taking an early lead, leading 6-1. RU would push that lead to 10-2 before a 6-3 EMU lead pulled the Royals within five, 13-8.
- Unfortunately for EMU, Regent would end the set on a 12-6 run, as Greer, Smith and Lindsay Bly picked up kills, but RU forced a fifth and deciding set.
Set Five: EMU 16, Regent 14
- Just like the first four sets, nobody was budging in the fifth, as things were tied through the first eight points.The teams swapped points to EMU leading 7-6, before the Royals went on a 3-2 run for a 10-8 lead.
- Regent went on a 5-2 run to take a 13-12 lead late in the set, but EMU was able to finish things off with a 4-1 run, picking up a kill from Lambert, a block from Greer and kills from Meadows and Smith to wrap up the win.

What's Next
EMU will be back on the court on Tuesday, when they welcome in Randolph Macon for an ODAC matchup. The Rowdy Royals match against the Yellow Jackets is set for a 6:00 pm start.
