HARRISONBURG, Va. - It was a Royals vs Royals afternoon in Harrisonburg, as EMU welcomed in Regent University to the Turf Field.
EMU's defense was dominant and their offense found paydirt in the second half, en route to a 2-0 shutout.

Highlights
- EMU had no shortage of chances in the first half, picking up five shots on goal from Leah Beachy, Hailey Walker and Leah Cap. But the Regent keeper was able to save all five to keep the game scoreless. The Royals defense held Regent without a shot in the first 45 minutes, as the two teams went to the locker room scoreless at the break.
- In the second half, EMU's pressure finally paid off. Beachy picked up a steal from the Regent defender right inside the 40 yard line. She dribbled in to just outside the goalie box and fired a shot with her left foot, the beat the Regent keeper to her right for a 1-0 EMU lead. The goal was Beachy's 15th career goal, which puts her tied for ninth on EMU's all-time goal list.
- EMU added an insurance goal in the 65th minute when Esme Cardoso's pass found Bridget Hay, whose shot found the back of the net for her first collegiate goal. EMU's defense did the rest, holding Regent without a shot on goal to preserve the shut out.

EMU will be back in conference play on Wednesday, when they head to Salem for a showdown against Roanoke College. Kickoff against the Maroons is set for 6:00 pm.
