HARRISONBURG, Va. - EMU field hockey wrapped up the Homecoming festivities on Saturday with a game under the lights against Roanoke.
Unfortunately for the Royals, it was the Maroons picking up a win in front of the Homecoming crowd, as they knocked off the Royals 4-0.

Highlights
- Camryn Lohr picked up EMU's first shot in the seventh minute of the first quarter, but it was blocked and the game remained scoreless. Emma Huante kept it that way with a pair of saves late in the quarter, as the game was knotted at zero after one.
- In the second, Roanoke was able to get on the board late in the quarter with a goal in the 25th minute. It looked like EMU would go into the break down by just one, but a strange set of events ended the half. A pair of penalty corners were awarded with zero seconds left on the clock, and Roanoke took advantage of their second opportunity, scoring a second goal to lead 2-0 after 30 minutes.
- RC added goal number three less than two minutes into the third, and the fourth goal came in the 40th minute. Huante had a strong quarter, adding six saves to her total. Shay Gough had EMU's first shot on goal, putting one on cage in the 43rd minute, but it was kicked away by the Maroons keeper for the save.
- Five more Huante saves rounded out the day for EMU and kept Roanoke off the board in the fourth. But the EMU offense couldn't find pay dirt as RC escaped with the win.
