HARRISONBURG, Va. – After playing in two different states during the opening weekend, the EMU Men's Soccer team got their first chance on the new turf in front of the home crowd in Harrisonburg, playing hosts to Marietta College from Ohio.
Unfortunately, the visiting Pioneers from the Buckeye State got the better of the Royals by a final score of 2-0.

Highlights
- The two sides traded salvos in the opening half, with Logan Darrow getting a shot on goal for the Royals in the 16th minute. The match remained scoreless heading to halftime.
- Marietta broke the ice in the 63rd minute when Lee Miller deposited his second goal of the season with an assist by Reggie Grayek.
- The Pioneers added insurance to their lead in the 80th minute. Marietta goalkeeper Joey Backhaus sent the ball deep down the left side to Eli Swirsky, who kicked it by Royals' keeper Andrew Arledge for the 2-0 lead.
- EMU's best chance to score in the second half came courtesy of Kaden Schrock, but Backhaus made the stop.
