Field Hockey Falls on the Road at Stevenson

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Field Hockey team continued its non-conference road trip on Wednesday, traveling to the Baltimore area to take on Stevenson. The host Mustangs jumped out in front early, holding their lead on the way to handing the visiting Royals on a bright night.
Morgan Leslie gave EMU something to cheer about, scoring her first goal of the season and the 24th of her career.
Highlights
  • Stevenson asserted themselves early, scoring four goals in the first quarter. EMU goalkeeper Gracyn Arruda held her own against the Mustangs' attack, making six saves in the opening 15 minutes.
  • After another Mustang goal early in the second quarter, the Royals took advantage of a penalty corner opportunity. Sophia Armato put the ball in play, and a shot attempt by Brooklyn Maldonado got deflected into the cage by Leslie at the 16:44 mark of the game.
  • Just prior to the Royals' goal, Maldonado got the other shot of the game for EMU, which was blocked by the Mustangs.
