FOREST, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced their 2023-24 All-Academic Team and a record 123 Royals found themselves on the list.
EMU's 123 is the most since the Royals placed 118 on the All-Academic Team back in 2019-20. This also continues EMU's streak of at least 100 student-athletes being named to the academic team.
The 2023-24 ODAC All-Academic Team features more than 3,100 individuals, smashing the ODAC's previous record of 2,871, which was set just last season.
Washington and Lee once again led the conference, putting an impressive 537 student-athletes on the list, breaking their previous mark of 529, set in 2022-23. Shenandoah University and the University of Lynchburg placed 329 and 322 student-athletes, respectively, which, according to the ODAC, "marks the first time that three ODAC schools showcased more than 300 members of distinction in one season."
In total, 11 schools eclipsed their all-time record for student-athletes on the Academic Team.
Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. Prospective honorees must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the academic year to be considered for ODAC All-Academic Team recognition.
