Royals Fall to Hornets in Season Finale

WINCHESTER, Va. - The EMU lacrosse team wrapped up the 2024 season on Wednesday, heading north to #22 Shenandoah University.

The Hornets used eight goals in each of the first two quarters to help them pick up a 24-3 win over the Royals.

Records: EMU 3-11, 1-8 ODAC | Shenandoah 7-2, 13-3

Highlights
  • SU got on the board first, picking up four goals in the games first seven and a half minutes. But EMU responded, after Courtney Crawford was fouled, she took the ensuing free position shot and put it past the Hornets keeper, cutting into the SU lead and tallying her 26th goal of the season. The Hornets added four more goals and took an 8-1 lead after one.
  • After Shenandoah took the opening draw, a Hornets turnover led to a Kaylene Todd groundball pickup. A few second later, Crawford was back at it, finding the back of the cage for her 27th goal and making the score 8-2. SU tacked on eight more goals in the frame, but Cristal Narciso tallied four saves for the Royals.
  • After a green card on Shenandoah's defense gave EMU a man up advantage, Amber Bonds made them pay, taking a pass from Crawford and finishing strong for her 16th goal of the year. The Hornets added eight more goals in the half, with Narciso adding a pair of saves to wrap up her season with 113 on the season, putting her fourth in the ODAC.
