Randolph Macon Picks Up Win Over Royals

ASHLAND, Va. - The EMU lacrosse team continued its trek through the ODAC on Wednesday, heading south to take on Randolph Macon.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 12-1 first quarter lead and pulled away for a 27-3 home win.

Records: EMU 2-9, 1-6 ODAC | Randolph Macon 9-4, 3-2 ODAC

Highlights
  • RMC got on the board first, picking up a goal just 1:10 into the game. But the Royals answered right back, after Amber Bonds won the ensuing draw control. In the Royals offensive zone, Courtney Crawford took a pass from Ainsley Clark, beat the Yellow Jacket defender to her right and put it past the goalkeeper, tying the game at one apiece. Cristal Narciso would snag three saves, but unfortunately, RMC would add 11 more goals in the frame to take a 12-1 lead after one.
  • The Yellow Jackets added three quick goals to start the second, before Crawford would get the Royals second shot on goal, this one saved by the Macon keeper. Narciso tallied another save on a Yellow Jacket shot, but RMC would lead 19-1 at the half.
  • Four more Narciso saves, and another Crawford shot on goal highlighted the Royals third quarter. And in the fourth, EMU was able to get some offensive momentum right away. After Angel Hines won the opening draw, Crawford took a ball at the 10-yard line, went to her right with the defender at her hip, and put a shot on goal that beat the keeper. Five minutes later, EMU would wrap up their scoring when Bonds took a pass from Crawford, faked to her right and went to her left and put the bounce shot in the back of the cage.
Statistical Leaders
Crawford: 2 goals, 4 draw controls, 1 ground ball
Bonds: 1 goal, 2 draw controls, 1 caused turnover, 1 ground ball
